What is Reiki?

Reiki, meaning Universal Life Energy, is a form of energy healing that has its roots in ancient Japan and was rediscovered in its modern form by Dr Usui in the Nineteenth Century. In a healthy person energy will flow freely and be balanced. When a person is ill or run down their energy may be out of balance, causing stagnation. This stagnation may cause emotional, mental or physical problems. Reiki can help the energy to flow freely again. Your body will draw only as much energy as you need, as it seeks to heal itself.

What is a Reiki session like?

The therapy involves the practitioner placing their hands on, or just above the body of the client, who lies relaxing on a couch. There is no need to remove clothing. A treatment will generally start at the head and move down the body. Although certain traditional hand positions, based on the chakra's are used, the treatment will vary depending on the needs of the individual. Most people find a reiki treatment to be a deeply relaxing experience. You may notice warmth, or cold, or tingling.

What are the benefits of Reiki?

Reiki can help to reduce stress and restore energy levels. It may reduce pain and help to alleviate many conditions. It works well with other therapies as it is non invasive.
