KINESIOLOGY

What is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology is a natural health care system which uses gentle muscle testing to evaluate many functions of the body in the structural, chemical, neurological, and biochemical realms.

Kinesiological muscle testing does not assess strength, but tests the integrity of the many factors which determine its response when called upon to contract.

Kinesiology testing does not diagnose disease. Muscle testing enables analysis which detects minor functional imbalances. Minor imbalances when not corrected, accumulate and cause compensations.

Compensations compound each other, lead to functional changes, and give rise to symptoms of discomfort, pain or maybe allergic reactions. If these warnings are ignored, disease can follow.

Having identified an imbalance kinesiologists make use of different techniques to bring the body back into balance, including massage, nutrition, EFT. crystals, bach flowers etc.

There are a number of different approaches to kinesiology; for further information about some of the different branches see the links below.

What is a Kinesiology session like?

The therapist will start by discussing your current problem and wider medical history and lifestyle. Some kinesiologist will muscle test by using your arm or hand, others will not actually touch you, but will muscle test using their own body. In some cases you may be asked to lie on a treatment couch, other therapists may test while you are seated. You may be asked to hold particular objects, such as bach flower remedies to see if your body requires them, or the therapist may touch these objects themsleves, or they may have another way of working. The therapist may use a technique to release a block on the spot, such as EFT, or may recommend that you wear a certain crystal for a period of time or suggest some other form of treatment such as massage.

What are the benefits of Kinesiology?

Kinesiology restores the whole system to balance, facilitating the self-healing process.

It can, for example:

increase energy and vitality
prevent illness
improve posture
relieve physical pain and tension
defuse stress and the causes of stress
heal traumas
enhance brain function and co-ordination
discover individual nutritional needs
identify food and environmental sensitivities
find and clear underlying causes of energy blocks/imbalances/disease
