What is Indian Head Massage?Indian Head Massage was created by Narendra Mehta. It is based on the traditional massages given in India by grandmother, to mother, to daughter in the home, and by barbers to men in their barber shops. It has been combined with certain western massage techniques and acupressure to create a new form of massage. The massage covers the upper back, shoulders, arms, neck, head, ears and face. It can be carried out anywhere as there is no need to remove clothing, or to use oils. A later development was the addition of energy healing, based on the Ayurvedic system of medicine, to create Indian Champissage. This is a form of massage that works on the energetic as well as the physical body, thus helping to bring the body in to balance. Some therapists will incorporate this energy work into their massage.
